Why Loulen exists
Every household juggles the same handful of bills - rent, utilities, insurance, the subscriptions that quietly add up - and most people track them the same way: a mental list, a stack of emails, maybe a spreadsheet that's a few months out of date. It works, mostly, until it doesn't - a late fee here, a forgotten renewal there.
Paul built Loulen because he wanted that solved simply: add a bill once, get reminded before it's due, and actually see where your money's going every month - without needing a finance degree or a subscription to five different apps to do it.
"I care just as much about how something looks and feels as I do about whether it works. Loulen has to be both."
Small, on purpose, for now
Being a team of one (for now) means Loulen moves fast and stays honest about what it is: a real product built by someone who uses it himself, not a venture-backed app chasing growth metrics. It also means being upfront that support replies, new features, and bug fixes all come from the same person - usually quickly, but not with a 24/7 team behind them yet.
That's the trade Paul's making: build something he's proud of, at a pace he can sustain, doing work that lets him support his family while doing something he actually likes. If Loulen grows, the team will grow with it - but the goal has never been to get big for its own sake. It's to make bill tracking genuinely less annoying for the people who use it.
