Our commitment
Loulen is built to help people track bills without added stress, and that means it needs to work for everyone - including people who use assistive technology like screen readers, switch controls, or voice navigation, and people who navigate primarily by keyboard. We're committed to meeting Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA for this website and the Loulen app, and to continuing to improve as we grow.
What we've done
- This website supports both light and dark appearance, with color combinations chosen for sufficient contrast in both.
- Interactive elements (buttons, links, form fields) are reachable and operable by keyboard.
- Animations are reduced or removed automatically when your operating system's "reduce motion" preference is turned on.
- The site remains fully readable with JavaScript disabled - layout and content don't depend on scripts to become visible.
- Semantic HTML and ARIA labels are used on icon-only controls (like the theme toggle) so screen readers announce their purpose.
Known limitations
Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time checklist. Areas we're actively working on include:
- A full manual audit with a screen reader (VoiceOver/NVDA/JAWS) across every page, not just automated testing.
- Ensuring every custom interactive component (like the animated hero text and marquee ticker) is properly announced or, where purely decorative, hidden from assistive technology.
No specific accessibility gaps are known in the app itself yet - this section will be updated once a real audit has been run (see the note at the end).
If you encounter a barrier using this website or the Loulen app, please tell us - see below.
Feedback
We want to hear about accessibility barriers so we can fix them. Contact us at accessibility@getloulen.com and let us know:
- The page or screen where you ran into a problem
- What assistive technology or browser/device you were using
- What you expected to happen, and what happened instead
We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 3–5 business days.
Third-party content
Some parts of the Service involve third-party tools (for example, our email provider or payment processors). We can't guarantee the accessibility of tools we don't control, but we choose vendors that share our commitment to accessibility where we can.
